Nancy Mace Challenges Congressman Cunningham to Five Debates

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Today, Rep. Nancy Mace, the Republican nominee for South Carolina’s First Congressional District, challenged Congressman Joe Cunningham to a series of five debates ahead of the November election.

Rep. Nancy Mace issued the following statement calling on Congressman Cunningham to come out of hiding and to confirm his participation in televised debates:  “Congressman Cunningham has hosted ZERO in-person campaign events since June 9. My Lowcountry neighbors and I are all wondering the same thing: where is Congressman Cunningham? It is easy to run from your record of voting with Nancy Pelosi nearly 90% of the time when you have the support of outside SuperPACs flooding televisions in the district with millions of dollars. Why is he hiding from Lowcountry voters? It is time for Congressman Cunningham to defend his record — without a script — and get serious. Today I’m challenging Congressman Cunningham to agree to participate in five debates. Let’s go…”

DEBATE CHALLENGE:

  • 5 debates, 3 debates to be televised
    • Hosted in both Charleston and Beaufort
    • Hosted by or with the participation of The Post & Courier, SCETV, Live5 News, ABC Channel 4 and NBC Channel 2
    • All televised debates to take place by October 2 to account for SC voting deadlines
