CONGRESSWOMAN NANCY MACE DEFENDS GOV. MCMASTER AGAINST LAWSUIT OVER NATIONAL GUARD DEPLOYMENT

“The Left is more interested in protecting illegals than protecting American citizens”

Congresswoman Nancy Mace today defended Governor Henry McMaster against a lawsuit challenging his authority to deploy the South Carolina National Guard to Washington, D.C.

“The left is more interested in protecting illegals than protecting Americans,” said Rep. Mace. “Gov. McMaster has the constitutional authority to deploy our National Guard, and he’s doing exactly what South Carolinians elected him to do.”

The lawsuit, filed by Democracy Forward, challenges Gov. McMaster’s deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops to assist with federal immigration enforcement in Washington, D.C.

“The left wants open borders, sanctuary cities, and zero consequences for breaking the law,” continued Mace. “When leaders like Gov. McMaster actually step up to restore order and enforce immigration law, Democrats sue. It’s outrageous.”

Rep. Mace emphasized South Carolina’s Governor has clear authority under state and federal law to deploy the National Guard to protect American lives and assist in enforcing the rule of law.

“South Carolina stands with our Governor.” Mace concluded.
