NANCY MACE APPLAUDS GOVERNOR MCMASTER FOR SIGNING THE CAROLINA STUDENT PHYSICAL PRIVACY ACT INTO LAW
COLUMBIA, S.C. May 19, 2026 – Nancy Mace today applauded Governor Henry McMaster for signing H.4756, the Carolina Student Physical Privacy Act, into law – legislation Rep. Mace publicly urged the Governor to sign.
“This is a commonsense law that protects our daughters in South Carolina’s schools and universities,” said Congresswoman Nancy Mace. “Men do not belong in women’s bathrooms. Men do not belong in women’s locker rooms. South Carolina got this right.”
The Carolina Student Physical Privacy Act requires every public school, college, and university in South Carolina to designate restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities based on biological sex. Schools that refuse to comply risk losing state funding.
Rep. Mace has been at the forefront of this issue at every level of government. In Washington, she led the effort to keep men out of women’s facilities on Capitol Hill, introducing the resolution that triggered policy banning biological men from women’s restrooms in the U.S. Capitol and House office buildings. She followed it with H.R.10186 to extend those protections to all federal property.
“I led this effort at the federal level, and I applaud South Carolina for following suit,” Rep. Mace added. “As governor, I will enforce this law without apology and make sure every school in this state complies. Protect our daughters.”
While Nancy applauds Governor McMaster on this important step to protect women and girls, she has been clear that his administration has fallen short in other critical areas. His appointment of a public health director who donated to Joe Biden, pushed COVID-era mandates, and called for President Trump’s impeachment does not reflect the conservative values of South Carolina.
South Carolina deserves a governor who gets it right across the board, every time.
