SuperPAC Poses As Health Agency And Falsely Smears Mace As She And Her Child Fight COVID-19 At Home

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Nancy Mace for Congress campaign announced today they issued a legal cease and desist order to stop a deceitful, patently-false attack ad by far-left SuperPAC 314 Action, which has spent more than $600,000 to elect Rep. Joe Cunningham.

“Right now all I care about is making sure my family gets better,” said Rep. Nancy Mace.

“While Rep. Mace and her child are fighting COVID-19 responsibly at home, in quarantine, out-of-state special interests are spending thousands to falsely smear her and weaponize a serious illness for political gain,” said Mara Mellstrom, Mace’s campaign manager. “These false and divisive attacks are everything wrong with politics today and do not reflect the values of South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. Regardless of political party, this is not how we treat each other here in the Lowcountry.”

“Rep. Cunningham claims he does not take PAC money, but it’s clear he’s relying on PAC money for support. In the last two cycles, 314 Action PAC has been his biggest backer,” stated Mellstrom. “This deceitful and crude attack perpetuates a negative stigma associated with those who test positive for Coronavirus. This is a highly contagious illness and no one should feel embarrassed or ashamed if they test positive. South Carolina is now facing a very real public health concern as we are seeing a significant increase in the daily number of confirmed cases across the state.”

“Every person in the Lowcountry deserves better,” added Mellstrom.

The legal cease and desist order the campaign has issued is below.

Empowering Our Future Workforce

Since we have been faced with the COVID-19 crisis I’ve proposed a long list of policy ideas to help individuals, families, workers, small business owners, and health care professionals. Ultimately the Government should act smartly and quickly when it is truly needed, while remaining as limited as possible and staying out of our lives when it is not.

One area that has been an ongoing problem even before Coronavirus is our ever-increasing student loan debt. The sheer amount and yearly additions to this debt are staggering. This crippling student debt is limiting the potential of our best and brightest for generations to come.

One of the answers to this problem is a change in behavior. We should counsel students on the benefits of trade schools and community colleges, and the excellent educational value of our public institutions. But even then, people will often leave school with debt.

We have seen several burdensome regulations lifted in order to provide more flexibility during this crisis. In the same vein, we have an opportunity to address this issue now before it gets worse, and COVID-19 has already worsened the situation when students are graduating but are now unable to obtain employment.

We should make it a little easier, and do so by letting you keep more of your own money. That is why I support the HELPER Act to help offset the rising costs of repaying student loans.

The bill has three key elements:

First, it provides tax deductibility for employer-sponsored loan repayments, so your employer can offer this as a benefit.

Second, it allows for up to $5,250 per year to be taken from a 401k to pay for loan repayments for yourself, a spouse or a dependent.

And, third, it eliminates the caps on student loan interest deduction on taxes.

All together, this will provide real savings and opportunity for people to afford higher education and repay their loans. We should focus our efforts on things that help people help themselves, through tax breaks and incentives. The HELPER Act does just that.

Don’t hesitate to send me your ideas too. I’m working hard for you, every single day.

Today Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) endorsed Nancy Mace for Congress! Sen. Lee had the following to say upon endorsing Nancy Mace:

“I am thrilled to announce my support for Nancy Mace, candidate for Congress in South Carolina’s first district. While our President secured a sizable victory in the same district, a fractured primary ultimately led to a preventable loss for Republicans in 2018. Nancy Mace is the independent conservative who can win back this seat. Nancy is a leader in the State Legislature on key issues, like stopping wasteful spending and fighting for our freedom, that matter to the people of the Lowcountry. She is someone who stands strong in defense of the principles the Lowcountry holds dear. I look forward to seeing what Nancy Mace can accomplish and I am proud to endorse her today.”

Rep. Nancy Mace had this to say about her all-star endorsement from Senator Mike Lee, “It is an honor to have a fierce defender of our Constitution and our civil liberties, Sen. Lee, on #TeamMace! Thank you, Senator Lee, for your support and endorsement. Our campaign is bringing Republicans and conservatives together to deliver a decisive victory for the Lowcountry in November!”

Nancy is in the lead in a HUGE way! A new poll released just yesterday found Nancy is on track to win this Republican Primary OUTRIGHT!

“Nancy Mace is leading by 29 points with 42% of the vote. This not only makes her the overwhelming front-runner; it gives her some chance of avoiding a run-off entirely.”  -Club for Growth

It is time to unite. It is critically important we win back the Lowcountry in November.

In order to defeat Nancy’s pro-impeachment opponent, Joe Cunningham, we must support a candidate who can unite all of the Lowcountry together to WIN.

It will take a truly independent voice to do so and Nancy’s record proves that she is  not beholden to any one or any party, and that she has always put the Lowcountry First and stayed true to the fiscally conservative principles that so many of us believe in and want to see more of in Washington. Nancy has consistently held the line even when it meant going against the establishment or members of her own party.

Bringing everybody together is so important to me, which is why I’m particularly excited to announce this HUGE endorsement for our campaign to take back the Lowcountry — House Minority Whip Steve Scalise.

“I’m proud to endorse Nancy Mace for Congress,” said Scalise.

“Nancy is a hard worker who is battle-tested. If Republicans are going to take the House majority back this fall, we need candidates like Nancy who can take the fight to the Democrats and their fundraising machines,” said Whip Scalise. “SC-01 has a winner in Nancy Mace.”

In order to take back the majority, we must come together to defeat Joe Cunningham.

I’m running a campaign that’s bringing conservatives and Republicans together — to represent all of the Lowcountry.

People from all across the party, including the most fiscally conservative policy advocates like the Club for Growth, Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. Elise Stefanik, AND Republican leadership like Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Minority Whip Steve Scalise, are all uniting behind my campaign because they know no one will work harder than I will.

I grew up here, I’m raising my family here and I have the right experience to win. I will always put the Lowcountry FIRST.

It’s time to unite and get to work – for the Lowcountry!

I can’t thank you enough for your support.

On Thursday I held a Facebook LIVE to answer all of your questions re COVID-19 / CoronaVirus. We tackled social distancing, health and safety, unemployment questions and what the federal government is doing to help small businesses.

Today we announced a HUGE endorsement for our campaign to take back the Lowcountry — House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

I could not be more humbled to have Leader McCarthy’s support for my campaign to win back the First District!

“Nancy Mace is a uniquely impressive candidate and I proudly endorse her for Congress,” said McCarthy.

“Her deep local roots and impressive life story makes her the ideal leader to represent the great people of South Carolina’s First District. Nancy’s tireless work ethic, conservative track record, and ability to get things done are exactly what’s needed on Capitol Hill. I look forward to fighting alongside her in Congress to Keep America Great.”

In order to take back the majority, must come together to defeat Joe Cunningham.

I’m proud to be running a campaign welcoming of all — to represent all of the Lowcountry. People from all across the party, including fiscally conservative champions like the Club for Growth, Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. Elise Stefanik, AND Republican leadership, are all uniting behind my candidacy. They know no one will work harder than I will and not only do I have the experience, but I have a record more representative of the Lowcountry than anyone else in this race and I am in the best position to win.

It’s time to unite to beat Joe, not just for my family, but yours too, and for every single person in the Lowcountry.

It’s with the most sincere appreciation, that I say thank you!
