SCGOP SCHEDULES SC-01 DEBATE WHILE REP. NANCY MACE IS REQUIRED TO BE IN DC TO VOTE IN CONGRESS
Establishment Insiders Rig Debate Against Rep. Mace
The South Carolina Republican Party has one debate date during a day when the U.S. House of Representatives is in session to vote, and it just so happens to be in Rep. Mace’s district. Mace is the leading candidate for Governor.
The conflict is no accident. The establishment is trying to rig the election.
While Rep. Mace is on the House floor voting on legislation that directly impacts South Carolina, the establishment has chosen to hold a debate that excludes the leading candidate in the race for governor in her hometown.
“The party bosses and establishment don’t get to decide who South Carolinians hear from,” said Communications Director Piper Gifford. “Scheduling a debate on a congressional voting day in her hometown when she can’t be there isn’t an oversight – it’s a strategy to rig the debates so voters can’t hear from the leading candidate for Governor. The voters of South Carolina see this for exactly what it is.”
The establishment has long feared a Mace administration. A candidate who answers to the people instead of a handful of establishment insiders is a threat to the way they’ve always done business in Columbia.
South Carolinians deserve a fair process. They deserve to hear from every legitimate candidate. And they deserve a governor who puts them first, not the establishment.
