NANCY MACE UNSEATS CONGRESSMAN JOE CUNNINGHAM IN SOUTH CAROLINA’S FIRST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

NOVEMBER 4, 2020 (CHARLESTON, S.C.)  —  Wednesday morning, State Representative Nancy Mace declared victory in her race for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, against Democrat incumbent Joe Cunningham. Mace won the district with 51.3% of the vote over Cunningham’s 48.7%.

Nancy Mace released this statement: “I am so grateful and deeply humbled that Lowcountry voters have put their faith in me to be their voice in Congress. Now is the time to put the Lowcountry First — rebuild our economy, protect Parris Island, and preserve our beautiful coastline. I promise to be the independent voice we need in Congress and to represent our Lowcountry values. Thank you Congressman Cunningham for your service to our district and your dedication to our community.”

About Nancy Mace:  State Representative Nancy Mace grew up in Goose Creek, S.C. and eventually graduated from Stratford High School, but not before working at the Waffle House on College Park Road in Ladson. She graduated magna cum laude from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, where she was the school’s first female to graduate from its Corps of Cadets in 1999. She later earned a masters degree in Mass Communication from The University of Georgia. She is the author of In The Company of Men: A Woman at The Citadel (Simon & Schuster, 2001). Her business experience stems from corporate technology consulting to starting her own company as well as commercial real estate. Mace also served as a Coalitions Director and Field Director for Donald J.
