NANCY MACE CAMPAIGN CALLS OUT CATHERINE TEMPLETON FOR “HAND HELD” COMMENTS

April 25, 2024 – CHARLESTON, S.C. – Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s campaign calls out the irregularities in Catherine Templeton’s narrative, as she intentionally continues to mislead voters on her immigration record.

In 2016 Templeton said she “hand-held” an immigration reform bill, inconsistent with her current tune as she takes credit for “writing” it. The fact is Templeton has never been elected to public office as a legislator, and has never had the opportunity to actually write a bill.

“Catherine Templeton can’t keep her own story straight. In 2016, she admitted she didn’t write this bill, yet now she’s desperately trying to take all the credit from the man who did write it and in the South Carolina legislature to get it signed into law,” said Mace spokeswoman Gabrielle Lipsky. “This can easily be characterized as another of Templeton’s political charades to hide her terrible record on immigration.”

Lipsky added, “Once again, Templeton is trying to be something she is not.”

TEMPLETON’S FAILING IMMIGRATION RECORD

Templeton’s career as a Columbia bureaucrat can be defined by her record, where she:

  • Lied about authoring an immigration bill written by Senator Larry Grooms
  • Fired 85 percent of South Carolina’s immigration enforcement agents during her time at the SC LLR
  • Apologized for calling immigrants invading our southern border “illegal aliens,” much like Joe Biden did and within 24 hours of each other
  • Claimed Nancy Mace voted against border security (she did not); Nancy voted against an Omnibus and Continuing Resolution with very high spending levels (very different).

MACE’S TOUGH RECORD ON IMMIGRATION

Rep. Mace has been a consistent fighter for securing the southern border and keeping illegal aliens out of the Lowcountry, by:

  • Endorsed by the author of the “toughest immigration bill in the nation,” State Senator Larry Grooms
  • Visited the border twice
  • Called out Joe Biden and the DC Establishment.
  • Voted for the End the Border Catastrophe Act.
  • Voted to impeach the Sec. of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas.
  • Introduced the Violence Against Women By Illegal Aliens Act.
  • Voted for the Secure the Border Act (HR2).
  • Voted for the Homeland Security appropriations bill.
  • Introduced the Northern Triangle Asylum Cooperative Agreement Reimplementation Act to return to President Trump’s tough border security policies.
