Nancy Mace Leads South Carolina Governor’s Race in New Independent Poll
SC Policy Council poll shows Congresswoman with commanding lead in Republican primary
Congresswoman Nancy Mace holds a significant lead in the 2026 South Carolina Republican gubernatorial primary, according to an independent poll released today by the South Carolina Policy Council.
The survey of 1,200 registered voters shows Rep. Mace earning 18% support among likely Republican primary voters, placing her ahead of Attorney General Alan Wilson (12%), Lieutenant Governor Pam Evette (12%), Congressman Ralph Norman (11%), and State Senator Josh Kimbrell (4%). The poll carries a margin of error of 2.77%.

Nancy Mace’s support has only grown since the SC Policy Council’s last poll in July 2025, when she earned 16% support. While Mace continues to rise, her opponents continue to sink as they go head-to-head in the battle for second place.
Mace’s lead comes as she continues championing bold conservative reforms, including her “Five Years to Zero” plan to eliminate South Carolina’s income tax. According to the Post & Courier, “U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace is the only candidate to post a detailed plan” for income tax elimination.
“The numbers speak for themselves. South Carolinians want a governor who isn’t afraid to take on the establishment, who isn’t afraid to take on the hardest of challenges for hard-working South Carolina citizens and win,” said Piper Gifford, Spokeswoman for Mace’s campaign. “Nancy Mace is in the lead. And she will be in the lead come June 9th.”
The poll, conducted January 24 through February 1, 2026, surveyed likely primary voters across South Carolina.
