CONGRESSWOMAN NANCY MACE APPLAUDS GOVERNOR MCMASTER SCHOOL BREAKFAST INITIATIVE

Congresswoman Nancy Mace, candidate for Governor of South Carolina, today praised Governor Henry McMaster’s proposal to provide free breakfast to every public school student in the state.

“Governor McMaster is right, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and no child should start school hungry,” said Rep. Mace. “I know what it’s like to worry about making ends meet. When you’ve worked a shift at the Waffle House, you understand that a hot meal isn’t a luxury. Kids can’t learn when their stomachs are growling.”

Mace continued: “This is smart, common-sense policy that puts South Carolina’s children first. I commend the Governor for his leadership and urge the General Assembly to support this provision.”

The Governor’s proposed budget allocates $8.7 million to cover approximately 4.1 million school breakfasts annually for students across South Carolina’s public schools.
