NANCY MACE ENDORSED BY SENATOR LARRY GROOMS

Grooms is the Actual Author of the Immigration Bill Catherine Templeton Falsely Takes Credit For Drafting

Charleston S.C. – April 23rd, 2024 – The day after Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s campaign called out Catherine Templeton for falsely taking credit for writing an immigration bill, the actual author of the bill, State Senator Larry Grooms endorsed Mace’s campaign. 

The bill, S 20 Act 69, was state-level legislation regarding immigration reform that Templeton has falsely taken credit for writing dozens of times on the campaign trail.

“As the author of the toughest immigration bill in the nation, I proudly endorse Nancy Mace,” said Sen. Grooms. “I’ve worked with Nancy over the years and know no one will work harder for the Lowcountry. Donald Trump believes in her and so do I.”

This endorsement follows the Mace campaign’s fact check on Templeton’s false claims about “writing the toughest immigration bill in the nation.” In reality, Templeton was taking credit for Grooms’ immigration bill, which was filed prior to Templeton ever being employed in South Carolina government. 

“We all should thank and give credit to State Senator Larry Grooms for writing the strongest and toughest immigration bill in the nation,” said Mace spokeswoman Gabriel Lipsky. “Templeton’s false statements about who actually wrote the bill reflect her desperate attempt to make up for her embarrassing immigration record. Templeton fired almost all of her immigration enforcement agents and has now been busted for lying about Groom’s bill.”

“Senator Larry Grooms has been a leading voice on immigration and infrastructure for the state of South Carolina for years,” said Congresswoman Nancy Mace. “We look forward to continuing our work with him and his leadership on issues important to Lowcountry voters. Grooms is a man of honesty and integrity, and we could use more of that in our government’s leaders.”

  • Lied about authoring an immigration bill drafted by Senator Larry Grooms
  • Fired 85 percent of South Carolina’s immigration enforcement agents during her time at the SC LLR
  • Apologized for calling immigrants invading our southern border “illegal aliens,” much like Joe Biden did and within 24 hours of each other
