Nancy was born at Fort Bragg when her father was stationed with the 82nd Airborne Division. When he retired, she spent the remainder of her childhood growing up in Goose Creek, South Carolina. This part of South Carolina is also known as the “Lowcountry.”

Early Life

Raised by a retired Army General and a retired school teacher, Mace learned the value of hard work early on. After dropping out of high school at the age of 17, she took her first job as a waitress at the Waffle House on College Park Road in Ladson.

Despite her early setbacks, Mace’s determination led her to achieve academic excellence. She earned her high school diploma by taking classes at Trident Technical College. Mace graduated magna cum laude from The Citadel. She made history as the first female graduate from its Corps of Cadets in 1999. Mace earned a master’s degree from The University of Georgia in 2004.

Business Experience

Mace has a background in commercial real estate and, as an entrepreneur, she also started her own company specializing in business-to-business technology and marketing.

She transitioned into public service in 2018. As a South Carolina State House Representative she was recognized as one of the most fiscally conservative members of the General Assembly. Mace also championed conservation efforts.

Mace is an accomplished author. In 2001, she penned “In The Company of Men: A Woman at The Citadel,” published by Simon & Schuster.

Her leadership embodies integrity, compassion, and a tireless pursuit of delivering results for South Carolina. She works with colleagues to successfully get several bills signed into law by the President. These include the Quantum Computing Cybersecurity Preparedness Act and the Human Trafficking Prevention Act.

Accolades

The Club for Growth recognized Mace with the esteemed Defender of Economic Freedom Award. The South Carolina Club for Growth recognized her with their 2019 Taxpayer Hero Award. She is also the recipient of the Champion Award from Palmetto Goodwill for her dedication to education and job training for the underprivileged. Mace holds a 97 percent rating with the Conservation Voters of South Carolina. Her dedication to supporting law enforcement has earned her a 100 percent rating on the Congressional Legislative Scorecard from the Police Officers Defense Coalition.

Committee Work

Mace serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, where she is the Chairwoman of both the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, IT, and Government Innovation. She also serves on the Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs. Mace is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, serving on the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations and the Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces. She also serves on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, where she is a member of the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity and the Subcommittee on Technology Modernization.

Mace is a devoted single mother to two teenagers, a sweet little Havanese named Liberty, and a cat named Tyler. She continues to serve South Carolina with unwavering dedication and resilience.
