Mace Eclipses Primary Opponents To Become The Only SC01 Republican Candidate To Earn “Contender” Status For NRCC
CHARLESTON, SC (February 19, 2020) – Today, State Representative Nancy Mace announced she has eclipsed all of her Republican primary opponents to become the only Republican candidate in the First Congressional District to earn the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) Young Guns “Contender” status.
“I’ve busted through barriers and glass ceilings all my life, and I plan to do it again this year in winning the First Congressional District. I want to go to Washington to represent the Lowcountry and the people I’ve known my entire life. Nobody will outwork me. Not now. Not ever.”
Mace has now raised nearly $1 million for the republican primary and is easily outpolling her opponents. She is seen as someone who can unite the GOP and win independent voters in the district. She has secured endorsements of local and national republican leaders and is poised to make it through the primary and general election.
Mace added, “Our fundraising haul coupled with an enormous grassroots effort, our campaign is seeing the fruits of our tireless work not just locally on the ground, but nationally. No one will work harder than I will to win South Carolina’s First Congressional District.”
To be included in this program, Republican candidates must meet specific criteria throughout the primary cycle to ensure their campaigns are able to raise the funds needed to win, operate effectively and efficiently and have a viable path to victory not only in the primary but the general election as well.
