Nancy Mace Supports Property Tax Relief

NANCY MACE SUPPORTS LEGISLATION TO EXPAND PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR SOUTH CAROLINA SENIORS

Congresswoman Nancy Mace announced her support for S. 768, the Homestead Exemption Expansion, which increases property tax relief for South Carolina seniors.

The bill expands homestead exemptions to up to $150,000 for qualified homeowners – a significant increase in property tax relief that directly lowers the cost of living for South Carolina seniors. Depending on residency length, homeowners will qualify for exemptions ranging from $75,000 to $150,000.

“South Carolinians are being squeezed from every direction,” said Congresswoman Nancy Mace. “Property taxes keep climbing, utility bills are rising, and too many seniors are wondering whether they can afford to stay in the house they call home. “

The bill passed the South Carolina Senate unanimously.

“Serving South Carolina is the honor of my life,” said Rep. Nancy Mace. “That honor comes with a responsibility: ensuring that families, seniors, and working people can afford to live, work, and retire here.”

As Governor, Nancy Mace has committed to eliminating South Carolina’s state income tax and reducing property tax burdens on homeowners and families. S. 768 represents an important step toward making homeownership and staying in South Carolina affordable.
