Nancy Mace Cracks Down on FRAUD

NANCY MACE CRACKS DOWN ON SNAP FRAUD, VOWS TO GO FURTHER AS GOVERNOR

Nancy Mace, candidate for Governor of South Carolina, today applauded the South Carolina Department of Social Services for taking action to crack down on fraud in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Effective today, all South Carolina EBT cards have been placed in “Block High Risk Transactions” status, automatically preventing out-of-state and online purchases while allowing in-state transactions to continue uninterrupted.

“Taxpayer dollars are not a piggy bank for criminals,” said Congresswoman Mace.

South Carolina has ranked among the worst states in the nation for SNAP fraud, with more than $100 million in benefits stolen in the first quarter of 2025 alone. Mace was direct: every dollar stolen is a dollar taken from a South Carolinian who earned it and a South Carolinian who needs it.

“Benefits are for people who need them, not scammers working the system while hardworking taxpayers foot the bill.” Rep. Mace said. “I will bring that same standard to South Carolina.”

The Food Assistance Integrity and Responsibility (FAIR) Act, introduced by Mace in Congress, would require a photo ID on every EBT card and ensure benefits are redeemed only by individuals legally eligible to receive them, a commonsense reform she has championed for a program serving over 40 million Americans.

Rep. Mace has made restoring accountability to government programs a cornerstone of her campaign for Governor.
