NANCY MACE APPLAUDS APPROVAL OF MAJOR DISASTER DECLARATION FOR UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA
Nancy Mace, candidate for Governor of South Carolina, today applauded the approval of Governor Henry McMaster’s request for a Federal Major Disaster Declaration following the January 24-26, 2026, ice storm that impacted communities across the Upstate.
The declaration unlocks FEMA Public Assistance funding for Greenville, Oconee, and Pickens counties, providing reimbursement to government agencies and eligible nonprofit organizations for debris removal, emergency protective measures, repairs to public buildings and equipment, and restoration of public utilities.
“Relief is on the way,” said Congresswoman Nancy Mace. “Greenville, Oconee, and Pickens counties deserve every resource available to recover and rebuild.”
Rep. Mace has long prioritized infrastructure investment and disaster preparedness, including securing over $400 million in federal funding for South Carolina roads and infrastructure in her time in Congress.
The South Carolina Emergency Management Division will host applicant briefings to guide eligible entities through the Public Assistance process. Affected government agencies and nonprofits are encouraged to submit a Request for Public Assistance and document all disaster-related damages.
