NANCY MACE STANDS WITH FORT MILL FAMILIES, IN SAFETY CONCERNS AT SILFAB SOLAR PROJECT

At a packed “Mother of ALL Town Halls” event in York County this week, Nancy Mace left no doubt: she’s standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Fort Mill families in their fight to protect their health and safety. Mace backs innovation, modern energy, and economic growth for South Carolina, but refuses to sacrifice the health and safety of our citizens to get it. Her message comes as York County residents raise alarms over the controversial Silfab Solar manufacturing facility, and Mace is making it clear she won’t let big business steamroll the people she represents.

Speaking directly to concerned parents, teachers, and community members, Mace warned of the dangers posed by the plant’s proximity to schools and neighborhoods, especially the storage of hazardous chemicals like silane and hydrofluoric acid.

“South Carolina is open for business, but never at the expense of the safety and trust of our people,” Mace said. “The residents of Fort Mill have made their voices heard. The people have questions about the Silfab Solar project and they deserve straight answers, not red tape.”

Mace emphasized that her priority is protecting South Carolinians, not corporate interests. She praised the hundreds of residents who have attended public meetings, organized petitions, and refused to be ignored by county officials.

“Our state thrives when businesses succeed and families feel safe in their own neighborhoods,” Mace said. “If I were Governor, this would have never happened in the first place.”

These comments come amid an ongoing legal battle over the facility’s zoning status and safety concerns, as well as reports of past permit violations at the site.
